Something I was thinking about as I changed out bits for Ruby, my husband's Belgian mare, was the curb strap. Now I guess technically since it is on a snaffle bit it should be called a chin strap I stead, but I think that's more a matter of semantics ( Read more... )

So, more questions about hackamores for those that have used them - I'm considering trying this before a bitless since Cracker can get headstrong at the beginning of hacks, when she comes into heat (although, I *think* she might have stopped because I haven't noticed any in the last two months, but maybe she fell into a cycle when I was on vacation ( Read more... )

Recently bought a horse along with his personal fittings (bridle, bit, blankets, martingale, etc.). This was partly because when we first met him, I noticed he had a bit that I'd never seen before. I live in a tack-wasteland, and I'd never be able to find something like it out here if it turned out there was a special reason he liked this one.

Just picked up a kk ultra bit, and I seem to recall that these bits have a top and bottom as well as a front and back- basically, the way to orient the bit it so the writing is right side up Y/N? So if you were standing in front of a horse wearing it, you could theoretically read the writing?

Does anyone know of anyone who makes custom bits?  Particularly those who can make custom rubber bits.
